Support groups for seniors

Oftentimes seniors are prone to loneliness or depression. Luckily, there are support groups that cater to offering seniors a safe place to discuss their emotions and experiences with others.  Some of these resources are found in local communities, while others have more wide-ranging services that connect people globally through the Internet. Let’s look at some of the support groups for seniors that are out there today.

NCOA National Council on Aging

The National Council on Aging is a nonprofit advocacy organization that is designed to improve the lives of seniors. The NCOA supports communities or organizations located throughout the United States. This website helps seniors to find resources, events, jobs and also to connect with peers.

Aging Parents and Elder Care

This website offers an online support group as well as some resources for assisting with aging parents or elderly spouses. This website even has a free referral service designed to help seniors.

CAPS- Children of Aging Parents

This website has a yahoo group where those who are assisting the elderly can meet and share tips and experiences. CAPS also offers news on sources for educational outreach.

Daily Strength Website

Daily Strength offers a variety of online support groups to assist seniors with different physical and emotional issues. These issues range from arthritis and dementia to depression. Through the forums, members can make new friends and share their experiences with others.

Totally Hip Support Group

If you are having issues specifically with your hips and joints, you might want to check out Totally Hip. This website provides a free and very active online support group where seniors can connect with one another. Web visitors can use the discussion board or meet online at the Totally Hip Facebook page.
